In the early days of Evergreen, as the neph tore their way throughout the forests and meadows the land had to offer, they left behind no floral or green that could be restored. The Everlasting Light, acting on His promise to provide His children with helpers, took the last remaining flower buds, and from them bloomed tiny manlike creatures with the wings of an insect. These creatures became known as faeries or the fae. The Light, with a bellowing voice, then called down a star from the heavens. The fae were instructed to grind the star until it turned to dust, and from that dust, each fae would receive their own unique gifts to help restore the land the neph had destroyed. Once they sprinkled the stardust on themselves, the fae were blessed with extraordinary talents. Some were able to instantly grow flowers from the ruined ground; others grew the largest fruit trees in place of the toppled ones. Crops and vegetables were grown and watered, and the fae beckoned the insects to come and inhabit their new home. The land thrived and became more beautiful than it had ever been before. The fae were anointed to continue to maintain the flora and restore any ground the neph passes through.
